Today i learnt an interesting and admirable use of Google doc.
While drafting a paper or word file we name a file
Lets say for example the file name is INTRODUCTION draft1.doc.
This file is sent from a persons gmail to another..which means it is stored in both mails....after the other person correct it they resend the file. Thus 4 files take up the 15GB free space per google account.
In case of research papers 1 manuscript or thesis undergoes editing several times. All these files are stored in both the student and teacher emails.
At times same file names give confusion as to which file is latest or corrected.
When a word document is shared through google doc then we can only 1 file with 1 name and both teacher and student can correct or make changes in the same file and this uses less space and is available forever.
Most of the time in my personal experience i have several drafts for 1 manuscript.several files for several students.
But google doc and sharing option has alleviated this difficulty.
