Crown Shyness- an interesting phenomenon in nature!

What is this crown shyness? It is something seen in trees. The above pictures show a clear outline between trees as if social distancing is practiced!!

When the tops of individual trees in the forest canopy avoid touching, it creates separation lines and boundaries in the sky. Crown shyness is the distinctive border that forms around trees.

Crown shyness (also known as canopy disengagement, canopy shyness, or intercrown spacing) is a phenomenon observed in some tree species in which fully stocked tree crowns do not touch each other, forming a canopy with channel-like gaps.

This crown shyness, may help trees in sharing resources and staying healthy.
